Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Not so fast

The press release I read from internal State Farm mentioned technological advances which are fulfilling the jobs people used to do. Nothing to do with loosing 7 Billion dollars. State Farm is a 87 Billion Dollar industry! I love working for State Farm...

There are no technologies currently in place that handle claims, yet the ranks of the claims representatives have been gutted. In many instances, the technologies SF adopted have made claim representatives less efficient. If you like the taste of the Kool Aid, drink up, but don’t expect us to believe what we know is untrue.

Well if you love working there you’re in the minority and I hope you wake up soon because there are a lot of hard working people who have worked overtime and given a lot who are being kicked out the door without regard to performance and you may be next. Leadership failed to lead for so many years now this is where the company finds itself. All the so-called leaders retiring have had their pockets lined too. A bunch of parasites who got where they are from nepotism and making people smile.

3 years ago SF's Standard and Poor's (S&Ps) financial rating was at number 3 in the country. The expectation was to become number one. Then a year later it dropped to number 12.

Six months after that it languished in at a sluggish 23rd in the nation of insurance carriers.

I've stopped looking at S&Ps annual reports over a year ago, but if trends serve, they are losing ground. I will not point the finger at what all the previous and obvious statements say, I worked there for nearly 30 years and have seen and experienced the declining years from when it reigned supreme and was a joy to work there to what it has become today which is a former shell of itself.

Slowly over the years, management started to tweak the recipe for success to one of a recipe with bitterness.

I will admit that a big machine with so many moving parts is not always going to operate like a Swiss watch.

One main thing that is killing them is their absolute arrogance and dominance of feminism.

Its hard to steer a large ship through heavy fog and stormy weather when everyone wants to be the Captain.

State Farm has weathered many large storms, but they are in for the fight of their lives right now.

There are many very smart and wonderful people working their, but most are all being chased away, Why?

Unfortunately, it is too little, too late. It is akin to bailing out the Titanic with a Dixie cup.

You sacrifice and give 150% for 30 years then are criticized and micro-managed to death.

You feel the preverbal boot on your behind and are told that they can hire 2 people for what they are paying you! The contra of that comment is that you work hard, are loyal, innovate and continue to educate yourself so that you get a maximum annual raise and good salary reviews! But once you reach 55 years of age, Instead of valuing you, They disrespect you and try to push you out the door!

Alas, perhaps this is kismet, or a super nova to what once was a rising star.

Your response answers many questions. Loosing? SF 87 billion dollar industry? Company is in a landslide from which it cannot escape. Executive is clueless and relying upon consultants who know nothing about the company or its culture. Had best claim operation in industry; trashed it for a metrics driven process that works well in factories, with no consideration for employees who take care of customers. Couple that with an antiquated distribution system in a society with two generations of decision makers who care nothing about a relationship with an agent. It’s price and convenience. They are shopping online. Hear that? It’s Geico coming to lap State Farm and the company will have some consultants tell them its to be expected. There are more important things than being number one.....and exec will buy it.

If you Are all referring to the 11 operation centers closing that has been in the works for years. The facilities were sold years ago and leased back. It has nothing to do with the current losses.

Hah !!! So did I. I didn't ask to be laid off . You are living in a dream world if you think this is not about State Farm loosing billions of dollars. Or else you are already in one of the prestigious "hubs " which are untouchable for now. Wouldn't hold my breath. I don't hold high hopes for State Farm's Future but I hope for the best. I loved working here and was a very loyal employee 😥

I think you are removed from what's going on in the trenches. I respect your opinion, but you are wrong indeed.
