Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Why do we come here?

Now and then I learn something actually about layoffs that I didn't know already. Sometimes people express very clearly what I think is wrong with the company that is getting worse. Like it 's something I sometimes can't quite put my finger on, and its like yeah... that's why I'm feeling this way even though in other objective ways it is still a good job. And sometimes reading other people vent helps relieve stress, or at least keeps me from venting at work and damaging future prospects, though I probably did enough of that early on to limit certain career paths.

I don't like personal attacks though. Almost everyone I know at or close to the individual contributor level is at least trying in this messed up company and market conditions. Not everybody likes everybody else, I get it, but anonymous personal attacks on public forums are just mean. Anyway I'll be gone from COP in a few months, and hopefully won't have a compulsion to check this site regularly. But if I did check it'd be nice to learn something about the company, not just the general unhappiness level of certain posters.

They come here to whine because their feelings are hurt because they didn't make it or because they are afraid they won't make it. Sorry no participation trophies this is real life. Buck it up and move on. Did it ever occur to you that you are responsible for your own actions, success or failure and that it is not someone else's fault? Probably not from what I see posted on this site!

The lunatics have taken over the asylum and they are spreading the toxic culture to the far reaches of the company, just take a look at any recent inclusion survey results, or any other corporate mandate before for that matter. Something major will need to happen to the leadership team for this company to thrive or even survive on the rebound. This place is radioactive.

That's not allowed here, check the site rules. No personal info, no using foul language, no cyber bulling. Site admins nuke that kind of posts and block user's IP. Seen it done already more than once.

It's nice to be idealistic on an internet board, but as we all know in real life the reasons why

co-workers who stay or those who are laid off are not often related to evaluations, ranking,

contributions, and hard work here.
