Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

AAP Layoffs

This is not surprising. I am a former employee of Advance Auto Parts from the Roanoke corporate office and left right as everyone was relocating to Raleigh and thank goodness I did then. The decision to purchase CQ was a mistake. AAP had been the trailer of the "big 3" for years. They needed to get that right before they decided to purchase another huge automotive company. The leadership had no strategy or experience in the industry, the acquisition put a few more gray hairs on EVERY single person in the company no matter what position you were in. The morale and way the employees were treated in the corporate office (and I'm sure everywhere else in the company) was deplorable from the moment I set foot in that place (years before the CQ acquisition was even in the works) until the moment I left. Now that I have left and work as a corporate employee for a completely different company makes me realize how screwed up AAP was and will continue to be until they are bought out. We were babysat as employees and asked to give up our lives for a company who in the end made all the wrong decisions. Thank goodness I got out when I did. Luckily I realized making a move for this company would not have been a wise decision.

I think purchasing Car Quest was the best thing that ever happened to AAP. AAP Parts were junk until they replaced them with CQ parts. Purchasing Auto part International and World Pack was just wrong, They are competing against them self. Should have left them alone or combined them with AAP into one store. Don't pay the Employees nothing and cutting hours so you can't afford to live. They treat the Employees bad and wonder why nobody wants to work there.

Why is this a constant in every thread I read:

The decision to purchase CQ was a mistake.

Hello,

I am a reporter with WFXR, Fox in Roanoke, and we are doing a story about the layoffs. Might you or anyone else in the Roanoke area be willing to speak with us for our story? We're willing to keep sources anonymous, if needed. If interested, please e-mail me at keskow@virginiafirst.com.

Thank you!
