Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

IDK about the Carquest deal

I understand the whole Carquest / World-Pac purchase & they needed the Import Parts ....But in the Lexington Market the Former Carquest Mngmt ( turned AAP ) ran the WHOLE biz in the ground top to bottom ! PERIOD ! They Wanted to run it all their way & didn't care what AAP had done in the past nor did they care what they said .... Commercial Biz was falling off period after period year over year ... Very good people where leaving left & right due to very poor Mngmt ...... Just a shame it use to be a good place to work &. Now the stores are ghost towns !

I'm retired after 49 years in the wholesale auto parts business. I worked for CARQUEST 14 years. sales. Then came AAP. Retail. Wholesale and Retail can work together. "MindSet" there is a fine line between the two programs. Everyone needs to understand and be trained how they both work to grow business of each program. People are your best asset. You take of them and they will take care of you. Give them the training opportunity to be the professional they want to be on the Retail and the wholesale. Professional people earn the customers trust on both programs. You can't help but grow your business doing it the customer way.

Thanks for the opportunity

The BIG thing was / is the ( 2 ) Companies AAP & CQ are totally different in many ways, CQ wasn t making deals of any kind or price matching on anything ....It was ALL about the bottom line $$$$$ .... AAP made any kind of deal & Price matched anything SO their Clientele was totally different. So take CQ Mngmt and put in-charge of AAP stores & it proved to be a road map for destruction. Commercial Biz started seeing HUGE losses ( Millions ) and AZ,OR & NAPA was there to pick up the pieces ... The BEST Part use to be their People ! NOT ANY LONGER !

GPI hold people accountable. That's the biggest joke I have heard in years. TS sold for a reason. It's the biggest scam job.

To the OP, didn't you hear that CQ bought AAP and used AAP's money? I agree with your view but have to point out the biggest failure is the AAP management team that allowed this to happen. DJ, MN, GS, BC, AP, MP, Etc.

You are wrong! The CARQUEST/GPI group printed money, ran efficiently and held people accountable. AAP people, abused their power, had very low intellect, had the "old boys" network and ran every qualified person form CARQUEST away. Now AAP is paying the price and deservedly so.
