Profits from cuts will not last

Your right you can cut your way to profits. It will look good to the stock holders but it isnt something that will sustain itself. The problem is when you go that direction you have employees that wonder whos next. Moral is at a all time low, production is down. You keep cutting and the customer gets inconsistent service and people that dont care anymore. A happy workforce will do what ever it takes to win. The commercial accounts are running a business. if you dont perform they move on to the next supplier. You can cut expenses all you want but until you talk about the true problem nothing will change. Hire the right people to deal with our customers, give them great service at a competitive price and you will win. And finally the most import part. Advance is not the 500 lbs gorilla anymore. Actively go after new customers. Every year customers go away for many reasons some are our fault some are not. We cannot beat our competition if we are not going after new business. Take care of what you have now and always keep your eyes open for the next great customer. It really is that simple

Saw this at @NVxHUJW-1xya, couldn't agree more. Will they ever learn?

So while I have been with the company for some time (10 years plus) I can agree with some of the comments here. I think that we've gotten ourselves into a position where we want to make the most profit of any other retailer in our industry at the point of sale. While there's nothing wrong with being a for profit business, our customer base realized long before we did that if they can save 100.00 off a 200.00 alternator by buying it from the competition, they will do so regardless of service.

Another point of interest with us right now is that we continue to follow in the footsteps of every other retailer in the automotive after market hoping that we can replicate the success of the previous business. We don't lead anymore. We follow, far enough behind to change lanes if need be. If you're not the lead dog, the view never changes.

Third and last point of interest, we are not prepared for technology of any kind. In store services are antiquated (even with the roll out of the NEW EPC) we are years behind AZ. We are not prepared for online business (as most of our stores have so many connection issues and internet lag it's painful to have to use them) and our competition are marketing themselves much better than we are. (Florida Georgia Line sponsorship? Seriously?)
