Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Sales are taking a major hit.

The reason everybody works for GE (Engineers and Manufacturing ME's) is to make a product that makes a profit. If you are negatively impacting GE's bottom line by creating costly science projects for R&D Testing then you need to be looking for another job.

GE can no longer afford your salary or your projects. Your job is in imminent danger of being eliminated. It's up to you whether you wait for the layoff package and risk being without income for your family

Much of the Predix platform is just a repackaging of the open source Cloud Foundry stack, anyway. It's hard to differentiate with that unless you offer superior service & support, which in my experience has been less than stellar. It's vaporware, but not quite as bad as the low-k TBC...

Good question about Predix. GE still thinks they can compete against open protocol systems with unlimited free technical support, no license renewal fees, and products priced at a fraction of Predix. Not to mention higher quality products that have been vetted on many end user systems. Predix failed at the GE Greenville Plant and we decided it is not worth the price or problems.

Does the same standards apply to the predix initiatives and leadership who are involved in this area? How much profit is realized from 2016 to 2017 from that science Project? Is GE looking to offset costs to fund these type vapor ware projects instead?
