Thread regarding Sears layoffs

At my local Kmart I have noticed they are always low in stock of Pepsi products but they usually do have some of each. There are quite a bit less bags of chips in the chip aisle. More of the pantry area is filled with $1 items each time I visit. Our store also has plasticware with WInn-Dixie branding for sale, and toothpicks with Walgreens "Nice!" brand on them (and they even put a sign to proclaim Kmart offers the item cheaper than Walgreens!) I even saw some LED light strings that said on the back they were from Walmart. So I think they are buying "whatever fell off the truck" these days.

In my area, lots of vendors are offering restricted credit. As a result, it's difficult to get all the items that we used to.

Smart Sense is a Kmart brand made by third parties. Many of those third parties do not want a bunch of Smart Sense labeled product left over if SHC goes bankrupt. Many have either stopped making Smart Sense brand products or they are now selling SHC/Kmart their own branded products. You will notice a lot of new products especially in pantry, these are either new vendors or the old Smart Sense manufacturers using their own label on the product.

Smart Sense is only a brand carried by Kmart - just find out the manufacturer of product and then determine where it or its equivalent may be sold

HBA was a joke last week. Whole category's were missing product! Pantry has never been given the attention it needs, now it's 100 times worse.

To early for back to school. a week after July 4th patio will go on markdown and soon thereafter back to school will be brought out (Kmart). It's been that way for the last 10 years o have worked there.

Pantry at Kmart has been looking sad too. Lots of holes, everything is slowly slipping into generic or low-priced no-name brands noone wants to purchase.

Mattresses are also very very profitable, almost as much as jewelry. Think of mattresses as the credit card app of things we can actually put on the floor and sell!

I have noticed lots of Smart Sense products missing-including the multi-vitamin I always buy at Kmart. It's not even available anywhere in the Detroit area for pick-up.

One of our former store managers used to fill empty aisles, one after another with plastic totes. Just to make it look like there was something on the counter.

Mattresses are a cheap way to cover a lot of floor space. So is exercise equipment and lawn tractors.
