Walking in blind here, never been laid off before. Have a gut feeling I would not dodge the bullet this time. Does anyone know how they actually do it? How they notify you, who is there? What exactly do they tell you? How long does it take? Do they give you any time or is it effective immediately?
I would appreciate any info.

normally your hr calls you in and your boss is there as well. they had you an envelope and then explaine the process of why. I was with HBC for 40 years when this happened to me. we were given 3 weeks notice as they were closing the whole dept. some places do the termination at once and walk you out of the building . can all depend on the security level of your jobs
Assuming you are in IT - a meeting will be scheduled, you'll be with your manager and someone from HR - they will read the script and that's it. Does not hurt, it's professional.
Don't have answers for your questions, just a friendly advice. Keep in mind that there is a life after RBC, after all. Left few years ago, managed to get on my feet pretty quick.
