What business will be sold after Lighting? Will it be Power? Healthcare? Management continues to burn the furniture to keep the engine going, but it is already sputtering. What's on YOUR resume?

I don't have confirmed information about round 2 layoffs but my assumption is hourly will be targeted in addition to more salaried positions. The spreadsheet comment is correct. The impacted employees are selected based on perceived roles. Performance is not a consideration. The executives selecting you has no idea about your actual business impact and they don't care. You are just a number and metric they are measured by and required to meet. The only cost they consider is your salary elimination. They are not smart enough to understand the business impact of low morale or loss of expertise and experience. Competitors reap the benefits and are passing GE because of "difficult decisions". Maybe they should try making "good decisions" for a change.

How is the upcoming round of layoff targeting any different than what took place in March? Does anyone believe the GE bean counters would have used any other method of laying off seasoned engineers and remote employees before handing out pink slips to patch such a huge financial hole the company has?

Unfortunately, it appears the layoff selections appear to be via spreadsheet without regard to business impact. Grab a bunch of older more expensive salaries and then mix in some younger diverse folks to make it not look too obvious.

MHPS's success is, in part, made possible by many ex-GE employees. This is the price GE pays for the way they treated those employees. Add up this cost to GE and display in a Power Point for all the dumb leaders to see. What a joke GE has become.

Funny seeing Paul Browning, a guy forced out a few years ago, reaping the benefit of the collateral damage his successor has caused. 50 in 60? How about 60 in 12?

More evidence that GE is in a death spiral. I've been an employee at GE Power for over 20 years and have never EVER seen it this bad. Yes, I've always complained about the constant dumb stuff leaders make us do. But, the stupidity has exponentially exploded to levels I never expected. The atmosphere is horrible. GE Power could not have handled the last layoff any worse. Good, talented employees were destroyed. They seemed to keep all the useless managers. The problems in GE Power are much deeper than the constantly changing leadership. Quality is taking a major hit. Our new gas turbines are failing. Turbine designers are making major errors. We are losing Power customers to MHI and Siemens. More layoffs are unavoidable to both hourly and salaried in GE Power. I think we are seeing the beginning to the end of GE as we once knew it.
