The new Lowe's Office building in Manyata Embassy Business Park, Bangalore India will house 2,500 offshored American jobs. Building will be complete in July (currently, approximately half that number of Indians hold offshored American jobs). Way to go Lowe's. Oh yeah, Lowe's also employs hundreds of H1B VISA holders in Mooresville, NC, not because no qualified American citizens are available, but because it is cheap labor and Lowe's has no moral compass.

Lowe's US is getting paid millions for supporting the economy in India. It is a kick back program!
H1b are more expensive. They get the same pay as you do plus at least $30000 in attorney and immigration fees.

The management sold their soul. We could have done all of this in the US using domestic labor, the price difference would be very small (percentage wise as it relates to the overall EBITA) - the quality would be much better tough.
Now, they bought into the offshoring dream and will pay for this down the road.
As a correction, the visa holders are not cheaper for the company. It doesn't lessen the blow at all.
