We should not have let that happen. Instead we bought freaking Bonobos? Good grief. We got flanked by Bezos again.
Now that Amazon just purchased whole foods, game on for Walmart
Amazon is testing drones for delivery. That would reach the small towns.
Since Amazon doesn't serve that many cities and towns with fresh groceries and that UPS and FedEx have cranked up the delivery fees Wal-Mart doesn't have too worry too much about dying. That being said will the Jet.com CIO they put in charge make the site better to use and deliver it's groceries out of all it's many stores as he'll will freeze over before Amazon will do it for medium to small cities and towns.
What prize should they be chasing?
Walmart will never chase up to Amazon. They are chasing the wrong prize. They need to wake up before it's to late.
The issue is that the Walmart website is just so hard to navigate and doesn't offer even the basic amenities that Amazon does. I wish they'd fix it already. It's so frustrating.
Walmart is not at death's door, but this could hurt Walmart's access to SNAP benefits once Amazon Fresh is up and running in major cities. The majority of the food-stamp recipients live in or near a major city, which is where Amazon intends to be for grocery. They will also get a share of the purchases with higher margins that go toward general merchandise.
But hey, competition is good, right?
