Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

June or July?

Will trigger be pulled in July and not June? I don't think they will wait that long.

@1wzq is right on the money. It has already started and will be spread out over the next two months or so. Impacted teams are being given 1 or 2 months to try to find another job within Intel, will be difficult given the hiring freeze. We will start seeing WARN notices by next month or August once they know exactly how many will go.

What are the terms of a typical redeployment package?

It has already started. The layoffs are staggered and phased out. Based on learnings from ACT they are doing away with the Big Bang approach. Lot of groups have been impacted. Bulk of the layoffs/ project closings etc will be spread out.

This layoff is not a rumor.

If the rumors are true and the cut will be big enough that they can't stealth it ala 2015, then I would guess it'll happen in July after the Q2 financials are released. In that manner executive management can point to the financials (and like 2016, their "expensive employees") as the cause (instead of things like poor leadership, failure to tap emerging technology markets, etc.).

Security company already signed contract to assist with removal of the targeted.

With this many rumors you know it's coming soon. If they want to write anyone off the books before end of Q2 the time is very short! If the target is Q3 or EOY they may still have some time.

Anyone who thinks nothing is happening is delusional.

  1. IDF was canceled - - THIS IS HUGE and an indicator. You cannot fund showing your latest and greatest to the world? Then that means your concept vehicle is no longer being accepted/funded

  2. Murthy is consolidating - Your group is NOT profitable by at least 5%+ margin? You are gone.

  3. All hands on deck for: SSD, DCG, CCG, AI/Autonomous cars. The rest - Yes including IOT are more than likely gone.

Yes layoffs happen but the epic failure of Intel leadership and BoD is unrivaled.

Monopoly and three year technology leadership that should have translated into PPAC advantage in every market they entered. Instead the BoD and executive leadership has squandered untold billions and surrender technology leadership and failed to diversify out of the wallled x86 monopoly, talk about failure of leadership and execution is beyond compare. Great ACTs are all but assured again because of this leadership failure, what an embarrassment to be talent and stuck at that company.

People in my group have been told to find another job in Intel or be laid off. They just don't know exactly when.

Just waiting for the next shoe to drop.

Massive layoffs happening at every major Tech company. Doesn't take a genius to figure out they;re coming to Intel too.

This site has a board for other companies too. On those boards you will see that the disaster unfolding at Intel is not limited to Intel.

People tend to be quite myopic.
