Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

corrupt management allowed a tech to keep his cell number... now he stole a big account. what a mismanaged company

A tech let go in December 2016 was allowed to keep his cell phone. I just found this out. He has been stealing customers, can this get any worse.... what world are we living in. It used to be a guy was sh-- canned and we took all his tools etc now we allow them to still have their God dam cell phones... fire all management . We will all be swimming with the fishes soon.

Poor management there. When you leave a company you should have employees surrender all company issued equipment. Sends the message of finality.... typical miss managed company

Tech should have bigger concerns on how relevant they will be in New Cloud environment. Your problem won't be a former tech leaving. It will be that very little need to have you at all for any customer premise equipment visits.

Only a complete idiot would think that the only reason a customer left Avaya was because they had the phone number of an ex-employee. If a customer wanted to contact an ex-Avaya employee they could always use the Google to find him.

The facts that Avaya is in bankruptcy protection, it looks like they are headed towards liquidation, and that new product development is at a standstill are a few good reasons to look for better vendor.

And what kind of company doesn't retrieve a company phone when they lay someone off? A pretty stupid one, I'd say. Why would they allow him to keep a company phone? Were they still paying the bill for it? Or was it actually his phone and his number? In that case it's a stupid company policy that allowed him or forced him to use his phone for company business - other companies do this too, they get bitten when the employee leaves and takes his contacts with him. But at least they didn't have to pay to terminate the cell phone contract when he left!

In at least Canada no one gets a cell phone Avaya just lets you expense the charges that way the employee is stuck with the contract not Avaya. A lot of Avaya policies are made with "what happena when I lay them off" in mind. Everyone is connected with customers in LinkedIn so not having phone numbers wouldnt matter.

Seems that when a Avaya client is presented with a choice they choose anything they can. Get mad at yourself for thinking your entitled to a client

Getting mad thinking that all clients bow down to the strong arming policies and mentality of those who remain. Sounds like Fear setting in. Better to focus on earning clients as a practice vs. a threat to anybody who dares to compete for free enterprise $$$

Sure this will strike a nerve with the Entitled crowd out there.

If you know of such a number why not post it here? Or tell us the name of the technician? Or their manager for that matter.

Not everyone has an Avaya mobile phone. And simply having the phone number of a big account doesn't make it possible to "steal" it. I can find the phone number of every potential customer on the planet - what good is a company phone? What an idiot.

What? Come on. When guys in Jersey get the ax we turn in laptops all mobile devices and tools. Doesn't sound like a good idea to allow a tech to keep his mobile number. I am sorry to hear about anyone getting laid off but I still want to keep my job too now.
