"Anadarko Petroleum Corp. (APC) on Tuesday reported a loss of $318 million in its first quarter.
On a per-share basis, the The Woodlands, Texas-based company said it had a loss of 58 cents.
The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 11 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 23 cents per share. Anadarko Petroleum shares have dropped 19 percent since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased roughly 7 percent. "
