Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Was good now sad

I left Cabelas recently. The first 5 years were great, I felt wanted which made me want to contribute more. Recently, contributing is considered taboo and threatening. After watching these execs in "action" the past couple of years, I actually felt smarter and more confident. If these people can get exec jobs, then I'll be fine when I leave. Well, I left and am fine. The lies, stress, incompentence, and the SEVERE lack of knowing their own customer is a huge relief to get away from. I am happier, less stressed, and in better health.

It's a true shame that the inept people and leadership in the bubbled world that is Sidney, can have such an effect on individuals. Be your own person and own your life. Don't let what Cabelas is saying detract from that.

I feel for the people of Sidney and thought I would add a bit of motivation (hopefully)

With a pretty good view into the higher-up workings of this organization, all I can say is that I am extremely sickened by how this company has been (and continuing to be) run.

It's utterly astounding how bad the corporate leadership is operating. The lack of any sort of future-thinking leadership is almost amusing, in a sick sort of way... like watching a very slow-motion train wreck unfold.

Going public as an organization is the precise equivalent to selling everything that actually matters for a soulless Wall Street dollar bill.

I posted about echoing the statement. I have many colleagues that still work at Corp and I probably check this site a dozen times a day to read the comments. Take it as you will, just trying to show the people still stuck and afraid that there really is life, GREAT LIFE, outside Sidney.

I posted twice in this string and dont really care if a post came after mine or how long. Considering the disaster that is Sidney right now, i would assume many people are looking here and elsewhere for info, rumors, whatever. So no, a post so closely together doesnt surprise me. No worries as I won't look nor post again.

Good luck

I question the post if they are not from the same when I see several post so close to gather who praise the poster tremendously. I believe several post came during a time of day which most people are at work. I looked up one post it said 25 minutes ago followed by another post 25 minutes ago. These two post was very close to the comment which was submitted. Maybe if this was your first post I would think you would wonder (if this is true) if they could not have been from the same poster.

I'm glad I left. I enjoyed the work I did. I didn't care much for the good ol' boy system. I was an outcast and treated as such. Looked over for promotions or other positions and such. The good ol system was making sure you got in right away, going drinking, hunting or whatever. If those things weren't done, you were doomed.

I lived outside of Sidney, which is a good point. I could not accept the taxes for such little benefit in Sidney when I moved here. I am very lucky in that respect. I was strctly talking of career and not cutting yourself short. There are much more professional companies out there.who act and appreciate professional people and put that above all, not who you know and are friends with.

And this is the first post ever on here for me so the non constructive comment on that seems irrelivant. seems as though you're the type that need the motivation more than most.

There are lots of careers out there that don't have to do with hunt, fish, or camp. Also at my new place, didn't have to sign a non-compete. They're archaic and very, very few companies ask you to sign them anymore.

I will echo this statement, it is so much better when you get out of there. Frightening at first? Sure. Any new start is. But once out of town you can see how terrible things really are. I recently left as well and had no problem landing on my feet.
