I heard that it was said that 300 people are going to be laid off in BVille because of this.
Has anyone heard of timing for bville and Calgary notices?
So how long are they goi g to wait to release the details of the Surmont deal? My guess is another month or so as the stock is rising and RL is looking pretty smart right now. They will wait till the good news effects slow down and then "bang" a big jump in stock prices. This is an accurate assessment of the deal. Unfortunately all of the staff (support) will no longer be needed. Good luck to all!
There really are some mindless zombi here. COMPANY owes nothing to anyone, it's a soulless corporation, but, leaders do. Ken was a great guy and he fought for Canadian employees, for HIS employees. I can't say the same thing about MH. With that plastic fake perpetual smile, I have a very hard time to believe anything coming out from his mouth.
Company and employees certainly have legal contract to bond each other, but also there is something more called social contract. Employees work hard for the company, and the leaders have responsibilities to take care of their employees. Shameless lying calling everything gonna be good is not considered of taking care.
This isn't as easy as people think, unless TOTAL sells to the same buyer simultaneously. I'm not saying that can't happen, but it would have to be someone with really deep pockets. Like ~$20B USD to burn. Don't think that's Suncor. More likely would be Imperial (Exxon), and that would be awful. Keep your heads up and do a good job. Do what your boss wants instead of how you think the company should be run - you aren't authorized to make those decisions, so deal with it. At least that way you can feel that you've given an honest effort rather than backstabbing people. If you hate the company so much, just leave. They owe you nothing.
Don't bother with the resume - nothing to apply to.
It's going to happen. Massive layoff is at the corner. Use your brain and do some basic Math 101 calculation. 400 employees will be gone for sure, and dare I say all of these people will from suppprting side.
Get over the denial stage. Guess it's time to find the dusty CV and start sending it out.
My calculation is about 500 layoffs as well. It's going to be horrible.
Not going to happen. Just another crazy guess thrown out as fact.
You need to have at least 500 gone you have done nothing but mapping for years. You don't even remember how to execute. You can pick locations but when it comes to execution your the worst.
You can not blame the American company. We should all blame RL who failed to run this company and let all the employee pay the price.
This time is going to be a bloodbath. At least 500 people will get laid off from this Cenovus deal based on my calculation. And keep in mind, a lot of these people are highly skilled and extremely well educated individuals. Market won't be able to absorb that many people.
American companies are the worst.
Total wants out of Canada just as much as Conoco
Interesting, but too many complications with Total...
Don't see this happening anytime soon.
Stop sniffing glue.
