What are your thoughts on must moves? Will PDC folks really try their best to place them, or is this a convenient excuse for lay offs?

-exx I agree with the Type A / Type B poster. I find it amusing there are so many TL's & managers that are able to bully their employees out of a job. Instead of Managers opening their eyes and working with their staff to support new ideas, "The Chevron Way" is to bully employees into leaving the company by force and removing the staff that have better ideas than they have. The old school management techniques are killing the company and unless the employees conform to the incompetent management staff then your career is over. PDC is a legal way to terminate some and promote the incompetent. "The Chevron Way" = Passive Aggressive Avoidance.
If you are over the age of 50 and labeled a must move start looking for a job immediately or business opportunity outside of chevron.
If you do not kiss a-- to your boss, your boss will find all the excuses to move you out under current oil price environment. Furthermore, if you have a competing colleague who flirt with the manager, your chances of staying on are slim. I speak from my own personal experience.
I agree with the type A/B assessment. As long as you're liked by your boss and hold a good rapport with management, you'll likely be successful. Type B's and/or people with anything under a 2 on their PMP will likely get the boot.
Don't worry about your job. JW recently said that layoffs are behind us. You can trust what he says.
Half the folks will be labeled "must move home". I can hear the PDC grinding their axes for a clean shave.
There are two types of must moves. A: Those who positions have been eliminated or must leave a country due to visa limitations and B: those who aren't liked by their boss. They will find positions for type A's. Better hope you aren't a type B. Or maybe you would prefer that.
I guess we are about to find out because I am a must move
