I agree very few people will be buying homes with the uncertainly on the hill. In additional the interest rates are going up and Sidney real estate taxes are outrageously high . I have seen a few families who may be waiting until school is out to make a move however overall very few.

No one will be purchasing houses in town with uncertainity of jobs on the hill. No one answered the posters question -how many employees are bailing after their kids are out of school?

You stated Cabela's employees are not going to be buying homes in Sidney Nebraska if they are going to be afraid of losing their jobs. However I do not think new employees of new businesses will be buying homes either. It all depends on what happens with the employer on the hill who employees 2000 people if people in Sidney take a chance on buying a house.

I do not know if you are a laid off ex employee at Cabela's or a bass pro fan who wants bass pro to buy compare at a record low price. however the question was about the housing market. The housing market is simple in Sidney if Cabela's remain a stable business in Sidney the housing market will level off and depending on how strong of recovery Cabela's have will determine how good of growth will have in the future . Also how many silly codes the city will come with and if they fill a need to continue this outrageous spending policy will have a large effect on the housing market. Yes I am happy a new manufacturing business located in Sidney. However please do not insult intelligence on this site. It is simple if Cabela's remain a stable business in Sidney the homeowners will still have their dreams and hopes for the future. If not this town is in financial ruins and homes are worthless , businesses are worthless and city residence most of them will be in financial ruins.

It is always about the company on the hill. What about the other businesses in town and the new businesses that opened by the interstate. Employees on the hill are not going to buy houses if they are worried about losing their jobs. The new companies that are opening in Sidney will create income and revenue the city sorely needs. How many families are just sticking it out in town until school is out?

This looks like a start in the right direction.

It sound like the same chatter talks to himself and posted the three post about the new company. The truth is we need to focus our effort on the company who employ two thousand employees and not give up without our maximum effort to same the company who is the lifeline to Sidney , Nebraska. No the new company is not the answer to the Sidney housing problem.

The new company who announced they will hire 10 to 20 employees to start and may hire up to 50 employees in four years is not GOING TO SOLVE THE HOUSING SITUATION IN SIDNEY.

No one answered your question. Houses are not selling and more houses are going on the market. Who is going to buy a $200 to $500 thousand houses on low wages. The only hope homeowners have is the new company opening.

I remember part of the ordinance was you could not sell adult material so close to certain pubic places. I asked a member of law enforcement if cable TV or the internet could be considered a sale for adult material if you paid for the service. He stated it wouldn't or you would have to arrest and put more then half the town of Sidney in jail. lol

Yes our city council probably spent hundreds of hours of city times and thousands of taxpayers dollars to adopt a ordinance to keep out a business which was to go into the old vacant Pamida or vacant Cabela building by radio shack. MAYBE A BUSINESS LIKE THIS WILL WANT TO LOCATE IN SIDNEY LIKE THIS AND THEN WE CAN SPEND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO DEFEND IT IN COURT. I doubt it they can simply choose to locate in Denver or Loveland or Scottsbluff or fort Collins or Cheyenne. Maybe just say any town but Sidney

I was thinking about buying a home in Sidney. However the interest rates are going up and these real estate taxes in Sidney Nebraska which are probably the highest in the nation discourage anyone from buying. In addition the city of Sidney has started a policy toward homeowners and businesses with the codes basically leave it up to them if a owners property is pretty enough for their taste . I am even hearing employees are being transferred to different cities because of this new silly code policy. I know if I was starting up a business given the history in Sidney with the law suit against a ex council men and the harassment of small auto dealers not to mention the harassment of a video and clothing store in town WOULD I WANT TO SPEND THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN A COMMUNITY WITH THE RECORD OF A UNFRIENDLY POLICY TOWARD BUSINESS AND HOMEOWNERSHIP. MY ANSWER IS NO.
