They won't let me work for a competitor after scumbutget laidoff me. I had an offer coming from the man in the red suit and the blue devil said I can't go because of no compete, but the blue devil laid me off!

Non-compete clauses are unenforceable under Texas law.
Have known several others that have gone to work for competitors immediately. It is not enforced.
Its not enforceable. There are current red suits that were laid off from scumberger in the Houston area.
Don't worry about non-compete, Schlumberger is the laughing stock of the oilfield in NAM. Glad I got my $400k from these toolbags & working for smaller but MUCH better company !!! Good luck to all after leaving this sh-- company !!! Hahahah ! They are going down in NAM, just look around and see how many Dumberger units you see working, the clients avoid them like the plague :)
I've heard about this before. Can't believe that a company would lay you off and then prevent you from gaining employment. This should be brought to light. Maybe go to media? Can you imagine the news story showing images of the person without a job because the person was laid off and then mentioning that Paal makes $18 million or whatever his pay is.
are you for real??. If you get a offer letter from other company, whatever competes, non competes, it mean they dont give a f about that stupid policy. Why you care??
As others mentioned go for it they will not enforce and will not even bother moving to court, 20,000 people have been laid off and lots of them are consulting on an ad-hoc basis all over the place.
I would not have told anyone what i signed with SLB it is between SLB and my family.
Unless you were scientific genius involved in the design the a time machine or head of strategic marketing or business, then they get a bit anxious.
Best-O-Luck trying to enforce that one. I work for ole Red and didn't even think twice about SLB's non-compete especially after they laid me off! Take the Job and don't look back.
Non-competes like that are not legal or enforceable. You cant legally stop someone from getting a job in their field. You can work for a competitor if they will hire you.
Most states will not care. Look up your states laws and can probably work tbh.
