Some of the larger stores still have full departments. Most of the others have downsized them to very small subsections where you can find little things like headphones and maybe 32 inch tvs or smaller. I was an electronics associate before the changes. It was really nice getting paid basically to dust tvs every once in awhile...still I enjoyed it a lot more when there were actually customers to interact with.
There are still electronics associates/departments? The Sears near me has seen its electronics department shrink over the last several years to nothing but maybe one or two 5 foot counters of random clearance merchandise and perhaps five televisions, some of which were also marked down. All the former electronics floor space is occupied by piles of vacuums, appliances, and other miscellany.
HI would be better off at hourly. The electronics associates currently get paid $10.50 per hour to sit on their asses watching TV all day while the Backroom Associates break their backs every day for minimum wage.
Does anyone really know if HI commission will be gone and go to hourly?
With how low commissions are,it might be better for most associates to be off commission, what do other HI associates think?
A guy @ my store regularly stays for 72 hours each week.
Not at my store.
If your talking about HA in the Sears store were I work, most of the full-timers work 30-35 and the part timers around 20. However the majority of the department is in draw. I've heard that eventually the whole store consulative sales people will be hourly.
