Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Transformation?

Is the transformation just leasing Xerox printers and buying Zebra label printers? Is this a joke? 20 people groups show up for meetings and this is the infrastructure build out in the US?

I will bet SLB Bought the interview/article.

The "transformation" is only on paper.

We keep making the same errors again and again. There is no feedback mechanism for the most messed up processes.

Safety is important, right? So why are there 4 different web sites we have to go to top register for it? No training on any of the systems and no method of giving feedback if there are problems with the site?

The new Skype phones might save some money, but if your internet is down, how do you call the help desk?

I would say the transition was seamless, but that is because nothing changed in the Cameron group.

So far we have not see any real change from SLB besides very generic safety training slide shows, reverse parking, and not being allowed to get a rental car when you travel international since you are not "trained" to drive in that country.

Well, I guess the only main change was your email and skype.

Typing slb.com email instead of c-a-m.com is way better. We no longer need to explain the hyphen to people over the phone.

We did have to change our Credit Card, I will say that the bank of america system takes much more time to upload receipts and no one is going to use the amex cards as they are not even company cards, but personal CCs to where you have to pay your own bill each money out of your own money then get reimbursed. That makes no sense.

The Harvard business review will shortly publish a 5 page article on the SLB transformation citing it as cutting edge management strategy and efficiency. Paul himself will be interviewed and it will propel him into the top rank of international business leaders. There will also be 2 interviews with 3 grassroots international (Angola, Ecuador and Canada) operations managers who will explain the benefits they have seen at ops levels of the transformation experience. It will include feedback from two clients (Sonagol and Statoil) that will vouch for how the transformation has helped their business and why SLB is their # 1 preferred supplier. Its all quite impressive stuff.
