I will be anxious to see what the new County Assessor's valuation will be on my two worthless Sidney homes - will it reflect the true market situation in Sidney? If so my valuations should be at least down 50% from last year's valuations. If not, I for one will be protesting my valuation this year. I hope all of those political subdivisions (Sidney Public Schools, city, county, ESU, Airport.....) that for years fed off of the Sidney taxpayer regret living so large - their futures will be bleek as hundreds move out of Sidney, homes don't sell and end up foreclosed, property taxes don't get paid and go to tax sale, etc. I feel sorry for the taxpayers that choose to remain in Sidney - you are going to be hit with crippling tax burdens.
just a thought, since the call center is moving to North Platte, isn't the previous city manager (a crooked cabelas shill, on the corporate payroll), now the city planner or manager of North Platte, coincidence i think not
A entire community is stressed to the max because of peer greed. The upper management at Cabelas has killed a small town! Tommy and the VP's are not part of the community, just money s---ing scavengers. These guys don't give two sh--s about Sidney. The Cabelas family has to be sick right now.
Every major media outlet across the state of Nebraska has spoke about the difficulties the town of Sidney could face because of what is going on with Cabela's. the last few years. The city of Sidney ne faced another troubling situation with the layoffs at Cabelas today. I do not know what the council may discuss tonight. I do know the council has spent many hours of council time discussing the cat problem , the old car problem , the doctor john problem , the truck parking problem , having council mem meet after hours to discuss a flat tire problem during the last few years. . I predict not one second of council time will be spent tonight on the layoffs at Cabela's today. Instead I am pretty sure the council will be discussing how to SPEND , SPEND, SPEND, SPEND , SPEND. Maybe this is a good policy however. If Cabelas should go out of business at least Sidney would still have a need for the motel industry to HOUSE ALL THE BILL COLLECTORS NEEDED IN SIDNEY.
So the jobs were sent to North Platte. Seems off if anyone up on the hill cared a lick about Sidney. Anyone agree?
