Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

New management "plan" is a bust. Lowe's is just not a good company. Discriminate against older workers...

Here in south Florida, the new "management" is a total disaster. I'm coming up on one year, and what a difference. I used to greet customers happily. Now I ignore the unless they ask me a question. Lowe's just runs its employees into the ground and tries to make them feel like they're doing something for society. Give me a break...

Lowe's is a cheap company with - sorry, but it's true - management that isn't too smart...they are thought puppets for corporate management. One day they think they will sit at the table, but they will always be dishwashers as far as corporate is concerned. Dummies.

I work for a paycheck and ignore all store functions, never buy anything at Lowe's, and try and talk people into buying their things at Home Depot, ACE, and wherever else I can send them. I discount items every chance I get, take returns that are beat to hell and back, etc. I get great pleasure out of watching profits walk out of Lowe's doors! Ha ha...

For all of the ninnies out their that talk about being a "team" player, blow it out of your a--. If you want to drink the corporate kool-aid, then go ahead and drown yourself in stupidity. The corporate shareholders get richer and you can barely make ends meet, and you probably feel grateful to have a job - what a defeated mentality. Fight back by undermining Lowe's every chance you get. Do you think they really care about you? All Lowe's cares about is the money in a customer's wallet and paying its employees as little as possible.

Team player...? Screw that. When you're 45, have been at Lowe's a year and are still seasonal, then come talk to me. The majority of managers are under 40....older workers are spent and can only be bled of their money for a little while longer. Better to get younger drones to work in their stores so they can brainwash them into believing the corporate America lie.

I even ignore shoplifters and root for them as they leave the store.

New SSEI has to do with customer survey. Now unless you get all 7's it doesn't matter. Making it almost impossible to get a payout even if you hit Sales numbers. No more mystery shops. They couldn't afford them..

No one in management seems to care that the stores look like sh--,,,,freight on the floors that can't get worked, trash that no one wants to bend over and pick up, and no one wants to sweep the floors!! We look like a beat up Home Depot.....and the customers notice!!!

And the customers Do notice the lack of help on the floor and they do comment!!!

Should we give them the corporate office phone numbers or will they just be blown off like the emplyoees are??

This whole program is the most poorly thought out program coming from a major company since Home Depot hired Bob Nardeli!!! Since when do you create at least 5 more management positions in a store, cut manpower in departments and put more work on the remaining employees by demanding them to work freight and do cycle counts while trying to help customers who don't have a clue about what they want to do? You can't run a plumbing department with 2 specialists. that are not required to do the basic maintenance, and a plumbing pro who is expected to do maintenance, stocking, cycle counts, customer service, IRPs, and retrieving merchandise from the back which is never in the locations assigned? The new area managers may be trying to help in some stores but they are still not effective in keeping the stores shoppable and presentable. Hardware is another area that is on an ineffective autopilot that no one is in charge of. Who is expected to take charge of getting things done in the department?,,,,a part-timer?,,,an associate who is trying to learn the department?...one of the older guys here for just an extra paycheck to supplement their Social Security? The people in charge of this company must be on some kind of bad drugs or drinking some really bad moonshine from those rednecks in the back hills of North Carolina,,,,Very few long time employees are looking at their positions as secure careers and know that they will never retire from this company financially secure as the executives who are screwing them will. I am thankful I have other resources to draw on as the company crumbles!!

Home Depot tried this and Now they have department supervisor positions available. They realized you can't have so little interaction with the department and control shrink and profits. Giving ownership to a department head allows the ASM to focus on the big picture but Lowe's is about saving money and hiring yes men and women to drink Kool aid.. The problem is they are trying to lower their payroll but taking away your most experienced people will hurt them since no one will stay long enough to gain knowledge..

Same messed up management in NC.

Lowes just let the older experienced ones go at corporate...lie to store employees and more lies and cuts rumored to be coming.

They are working some left beyond limits while some lazy slackers get paid to do nothing

No EXECUTIVES GAVE UP MILLIONS...NO SACRIFICE FROM THEM WHILE WE STRUGGLE TO GET BY

I'm in SE Georgia and I don't understand why Lowe's changed their management around. it seems really confused at my store and no one is really in charge. All the area managers are walking around talking to each other, but never help us out. what do they do? They just hired all the people that are in a little social circle, and now they want everyonee to work hard for them. Sorry, I dont have any confidence in these changes. I used to like Lowes to, but not anymore.

The rich get richer, and the poor just work harder. America is in trouble...
