Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Went to the Hamburg store this past Sunday. I used to work there and it isn't the same. First thing I noticed was no greeters at the door. Lots of customers, not so many Outfitters. The wait at the gun counter was so long I gave up. Went into the gun library, lots of customers there too, but the Outfitters were overwhelmed trying to help everyone. Selected a few things to buy, but the checkout line stretched almost back to the mountain. In the end, I gave up, didn't buy anything and left.

When will the realize the Outfitters are what makes the company run?

When I worked there, the GM made sure all the check out lines moved fast, the place was always crowded on weekends and holidays. He would even jump in and either man a register, help out at the gun counter and help stock the shelves when necessary. He made us feel like he was one of us.

The Outfitters knew what they were selling and could give good advise to the customers.

At the busy times there were at least four greeters and three firearms inspectors at the door.

Customer Service was at the top of the list.

All of us knew the regular customers as well as the regular visitors who just liked to come in and walk around. There were even some who came their just to eat in the deli.

We had school groups and business meetings there.

Sure, we had crazy schedules and some long hours, but it is retail. Overall, we all had fun.

How can corporate greed run such a thriving business into the ground?

Hamburg store s---s, they are getting less and less product and they have only a few good department managers.

When it is too late which it is now. So sad - went to a store Monday, reminded me of a KMart. No future with the way it is run. No pride no actual experience with product. No help. Not sure why I wasted my time but I did
