Anyone have any historical information on how often layoffs hit the Chevron legal department?

Check their rules, nothing to do with politics, but with using personal insults. Cheers.
hpld - All Chevron Corpiration cares about is the bottom line in Dollars saved. I'm sure our better lawyers were the higher paid ones. Hence, most of them were cut and the slackers stayed on. That's the new Chevron logic. Sad.
Not necessarily true that Legal has not got hit during layoff periods. In the 2015 layoff, lots were let go, including a number of excellent lawyers. Unfortunately, they kept some lazy and incompetent lawyers. A lot of us tried to fight for the good lawyers to stay but it made no difference.
Looks like @eum got the final word in. Excellent call on the part of the website admins.
So glad this site is administrated, and that personal insults are not allowed here. Have a feeling this tension between xqy and eum would grown into something bigger.
xqy - Practice some etiquette. Say things here as if you would say them to a petson's face. I bet you 10-1 you wouldn't say what you do did to someone directly, would you?
OP, in my 30 years with the company, I've gone through a good number of layoff periods. I've had a close working relationships with the legal department. We have our own in-house staff of attorneys, but maintain several outside firms as well. I don't think our legal department has had any or much impact during layoff periods. We keep a sufficient number of legal talent employed at Chevron and use outside firms for the extra demand that is needed.
why do you need to know. you still have a job right? Dont waste your time thinking about others.
