Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Serve Delight and Engage

Does anyone else still do these chants every morning? It's getting more and more ludicrous to me to keep saying it. "To serve, delight, and engage our members while they shop their way." Literally NONE OF THOSE THINGS are happening or are even possible. I've honestly started to feel like we're saying it sarcastically. All the other stuff too. Operational excellence? Embrace technology? World's greatest integrated retailer? It's almost as if someone sat down and came up with a list of things we're basically the opposite of. What an absolute joke.

I must agree these morning rallies are such a waste of time, who really cares anymore what the SYW percentage was,or who had the most credit apps or most PA dollars.

We are doing inventory next week, how it is going to get done with no associates to do it ,plus cover the floor will be a miracle, especially in softlines where they have hardly anyone working during the day shift.

In my store we are trying to cover the floor with so little associates sometimes there are only 6 or 7 working .

What a joke it has become.

@1ivp Not drama. Observations. Jason Hollar decided to stop feeding off the drama.

I've had the same thoughts at the rally. No serving, no delighting or engaging except for pestering for credit. The shop their way is at another store as someone noted below.

Eddie, the other store they're shopping at? For the customer @ my Sears store, that means a b&m location. My folks don't shop much online. And the time they did on Sears.com no one was there to help them with a 3rd party seller problem. They felt betrayed by Sears.

Morning rallies are such a waste of time and actually affect morale even more. We are not in preschool, we don't need to chant or do a "show and tell".

It's nice whenever our softlines ASM opens, we skip the meeting and get any registers open that haven't been yet (instead of opening them just after the store opens), get RES signs taken care of, tidy up the departments, etc. She's straight and to the point and just announces over the intercom our sales goal for the day and what we need for credit and PAs.

The store manager and the hardlines ASM, however, insist on having the meeting.

I never get anything useful out of these meetings. I already know where I stand in metrics and where the store stands as well. Most associates do as well, at least the ones who care. The ones that could care less aren't going to care more just by standing around in a circle like preschool children.

This time could be used more productively. But Sears and productivity are like oil and water, it doesn't mix.

I always thought morning rallies were the biggest waste of time. Sometimes I would be doing a task (as you can see limited time and every minute counts) depending on the manager some would let you skip it to continue doing your task some were just asses like really you don't learn anything its a waste of time I just wonder why they never got rid of the rally meets they were pointless.

"If it's all a joke and no interest to you than instead of moaning and groaning I would say the door swings both ways..."

Indeed it does, as you see the mass exodus for the doors. It IS a joke.

Sears began a pilot today in 100 stores where they hired prostitutes to work the morning meetings to try to boost morale. Early results show things are starting to point up i mean look up.

"Literally NONE OF THOSE THINGS are happening or are even possible." Oh contraire, our MEMBERS are shopping "their way"...their way is to shop someplace else other than Sears! I know this MEMBER is. Better price, better selection, better quality and better shopping environment elsewhere! That trumps my so called associate discount. Sorry Eddie.
