SM pay cuts?

My SM has told me that she takes the bus to work due to her inability to afford a car on her salary. She said, "since we took the pay cut, I can't afford a car."

A junior executive can't afford a car? Seriously? Has anyone else heard about SMs taking pay cuts?

Yes, the company is trying to reduce the number of Sales Managers at the store level. By changing the structure of the store executives, payroll for them can be reduced. Many sales managers have been in their positions for many years and are near the top of the pay grade. They can get rid of a tenured, experienced manager over 50, and pay an entry level Lead or SS $25,000-$30,000 less to do the same job.....but not as well. I have seen so many new managers and EDP's quit....they simply cannot do the job that experienced executives can do and the work ethic is just not there.

Had to go from SM to a sales supervisor. I.e. SM position was cut, offerd supervisor position with lower pay or have no job.
