Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Finance EOI

Heard about this last week then got the email. Don't fall for this it's a trap.

Except for my first year, I've always been rated a "1" or "2". The ratings seem to just alternate rather than be linked to actual performance.

I did not put in for EOI the first time, but I did the second. My skills are transferrable and the company is changing for the worse. My EOI was then rejected because I was told "they are not paying good people to leave"

You guessed it, I got a "3" even though I had an awesome year. There were excuses but I was told higher ratings were for loyal employees.

Don't fall for the EOI loyalty test. My plan now is to NOT put in my name and see if I get severed for disloyaty. This place $ucks.

Fast! Go grab a tissue! You must be male because this company only seems to reward or promote employees that have junk between their legs.

1's and 2's every year? Whose bum have you been crawling up? Only the best a-- kissing conformers get those kinds of ratings at COP. Actual hard work is not recognized.

"Leadership competencies." As if we need additional leaders.

Better yet is when management are claiming they are being fair in their assessment and the an employee finds his/her assessment is based on leadership competencies (which are seldom communicated in advance)

COP is a huge legacy company that missed the train for improvement ....... Old Schools never last

Ratings are also bogus. I've never cared about them. All you need to do is your best, and then don't worry about the rating, other than to know if you get a "needs improvement" they're planning to let you go. The system is not as it appears, but rather it is manipulated to manipulate the employee.

Yes it does s---. And loyalty means nothing to the company. Just because it means something to some person above you doesn't mean someone else above you won't force you out anyway. Loyalty is a meaningless wird with this company. Do what is in your best interest, because when the time comes, they'll do exactly the same. Had I not been so naive, I'd have heeded this same advice, which was given to me years ago, and I've have already been gone to a better company prior to being layed off.
