Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Will COP change the severance plan

So if you are one of the lucky (or unlucky?) ones who isn't shown the door as a reward for your service, what are the chances of being cut in a future layoff and having no severance? With as many rounds as we've had, and with cost-cutting being such a focus (excepting management compensation, of course), and with more rounds likely, are they looking at resucing these benefits? Can they cut benefits for existing employees, or just new hires?

Folks in Canada have been told that the severance formula is the same as was used in Sept 2016.

If you are in Texas, then yes. It is a right-to-work state which means the company can cut you with no severance. COP is actually very generous with severance compared to most companies I have worked at...and remember they could give you zero if they wanted to.

So take the severance while you can? Before round 35?

Yes they can change the severance. They have already changed the policy on vacation pay out.
