Rumour has it, there once was a Lease Manager that was a bully, and you have no idea what bully is.

I remember the day well when I received the layoff notice. It totally destroyed my life. 60 weeks of severance, additional pay for 11 weeks of vacation (thanks to being grandfathered in when we could bank as many as we had in earned vacation)' over 2 mil in lump sum retirement has made my life miserable. I lost the drive and the need to work. Yes COP has to have been a terrible place to work. Don't cry for me Argentina.

Stop with the stupid "work at Wal-Mart" and "do you want fries with that" comments. Is your thinking that after COP that is the only job a person can get? For goodness sakes, if you are a young person and began working at COP 3 years ago and you have had to hear the "morale" boosting going on over there, you may say it makes your life miserable after all the smoke blown up your butt when getting recruited. With little experience in oil and gas a person may feel kind of trapped. But to whoever wrote this, there is life outside of that place and it you should not let it control you. Many people justify a place they don't like because it pays well. But if you are miserable, it's not worth it. I went through the motions like a robot over there and finally saw the light of how miserable I was so I left and have found joy in my life again. And you will too!

My life was not ruined but my life at Conoco was ruined the day management decided that our department should reside under the land department under a manager who promotes bullying amongst her supervisors. Hopefully, Cenovus is smarter than this.

COP is a company that holds no spirit values. They allow bullies and that terrible # ranking system. It brings out the worst in people. It's not a culture of growth and look where they are now. So yes everyone deserves a place of respect on the job. That place just eats your sole all for a pay cheque because there are slim job postings out there. So for now bend over and take that COP lube.

For any company or for that matter, anyone to "RUIN" your life they MUST have your permission. When this industry s---s you have to make a decision: either grab a gear or repeat after me... "Would you like fries with that? PS: Try not to let the rough times dictate your attitude....

Barring a specific gross injustice, blaming your employer for your life problems is a cop out. You are responsible for your happiness. Try working at Walmart instead.

So dramatic, brother. Conoco has done nothing but pay me well enough to enjoy my personal life. Would I rather not work for a living? Sure. But Conoco is not the worst place to spend my days, many people are way worse off

I remember the day that I was hired. It was the beginning of a wonderful career that I enjoyed very much. I got to see the world and many places in North America. ConocoPhillips is a wonderful company, it pays very well, it's just in a volatile business that causes it to make critical personnel adjustments from time to time.

March 19, 2015. The nice thing: it only lasted a few months. Now away from COP and the oilfield and enjoying life, more so than I ever did at COP

There's a big world outside the oilfield
