The layoffs are coming in multiple phases. The next phase will include more office positions being laid off, personnel managers, receiving associates, etc... if you sit at a desk, high chance your job gets eliminated, front end salaried managers at will be taking over a lot of the personnel duties at sams, academy managers will be taking over lots of the task at walmart. All salaried managers will all be getting more task added to their routines from hourly jobs being eliminated. Store managers will get assigned multiple task that are currently market manager task, as more cuts will also be made at the market and regional level. It is still being decided how many salaried managers including co managers, APMS and Assistant managers will be cut. Good luck to you all!

A quote from Sam Walton book Made in America my story: " a lot of American management has bent over too far toward taking care of itself first, and worrying about everybody else later". Sam Walton's words. Another quote from Sam Walton Made in America my story: "The Japanese are right on this point: you can't create a team spirit when the situation is one sided, when management gets so much and workers get so little of the pie. Some of these salaries I see out there are completely out of line, and everybody knows it." Sam Walton's words...
Well sad to say the rumor is true
As of today 4-16-18 we lost our jobs 6 of us..door greeters are no more thanks walmart not even a notice I found out when I tried to use my discount card..The bad thing is I'm out on medical...They want you to call them and let them know what's going on but can call you to say you have no job( p.o.s)
To the person who thinks all these comments are rumors well a great many have come to pass and more are about to like the people greeter in late April , then personnel will be in July 2019, I Know for a fact of these two happening. I have heard of cutting ASM's and Dept. Managers also as they continue to find ways to make up for higher wages the that they now are paying new hires to work for them. Then they cut the hours of full time and and long time associates. I really hate that the world has come to greed not just in Walmart but other company's as well.
I
Sams Club just eliminated wireless dept. anyone know of any other depts/jobs being cut 6/18
My job was cut and I am being moved to a department that requires lifting 50 lbs or more and driving a forklift they are 3 men ,managers that would have been better qualified to get that job I have many back problems already and had 3 back surgeries a female and very successful in front end and membership they hired a manager from outside the club to run those departments how vrewal van this be . I know they are trying to force me to quit but I'm going to give it a try and pu ,y best effort yo make sites I do s good job I wasn't offered a severance package but my job was cut I need a lawyer
We just lost our Co-Managers last week in my market. They did not offer them all the chance to re-apply or go down to Assistant managers as Walmart propaganda states. Despite what Walmart is saying, store sales are up but customer service is down. We have way less associates to assist our customer base. Employee attitudes in our market among the Salaried members and hourly associates is horrible and IT WILL GET WORSE. This is not Sam Waltons company and current brass is gutting the company either for share holders or to purchase more small companies. This all comes on the backs of some great associates. SO Sad
Working at Sam's club while I type this, photo department. We're a few months from our "Sam's Share" bonus and they cut 3 managers. All of whom are hard working and two of em have sacrificed dearly for this gods-forsaken company. One of them, an employee of 21 f---ing years, moved her whole family from Tennessee to open this store. That was a year and a half ago.
It's all true...don't listen to the trolls probably paid by Walmart.
Get out as fast as you can.
It's a sinking ship.
They are eliminating long term employees.
They want to have less paid "yes men"
Two Michigan Sam’s Club locations closing. East Lansing and Farmington Hills.
Do not listen to anything on this site. It is all rumors. I'm sure there will be changes but it will not be announced on here. You can tell by the grammar and punctuation of these post it is not someone at Corporate in a lead role that is "leaking" the information.
Any job, you should have a resume ready. One nice thing about Sam's Club is they will get you a new spot or give you a package. Most companies say bye and you don't get nothing.
What about door greeter positions?
So sad, 5 years at Sam's club and it looks like I will be job hunting again.😕
no one posting on here knows anything. someone sees this, someone here’s that, it’s all nothing. what happens will happen. if you are in a questionable position just be ready.
How do you know personnel gone Dec. 1?
Personnel lead gone 12-1; when will the receiving clerk be position be eliminated? Hope it’s after 1-31 so I can receive my bonus (any amt better than nothing).
Sounds like they are getting rid of associates with 15 years or more. That is what all this is about. Everyone that has been there that long has been loyal to the company, but as you can see they sure are not loyal to us. They just use you and spit you out when they are done with you.
So what positions did you see on the managers work bench that will be gone? What position do you work?
so there is a layout sheet on the mgr's workbench showing the whole club and the associates that their positions will be no longer. this is phase 4 coming up in Jan 2018. It is so sad to see the values of our company going down the drain. I will lose my job along with several more. Up your 401k for the last check to avoid taxes and get the 6% the company will pay. Good luck to all.
After all most 25 years with Sam's club, what a slap in the face. Yes they offer to help you find a position.Of course since they're cutting full time positions, part time 20 hour a week isn't what we need. So greed takes a bow. Sam Walton is rolling in his grave. He believed if you treated your partners right they would give you there best. Maybe you should take a moment to look at moaral, and turnovers. Eighty percent of our club us been one year or less. Why would anyone want to stay? I just hope I can hang in there long enough to retire. So quit bragging about the jobs you offer, unless you also add they are 20 hour, $9.50 , no benefit jobs. Burn the book made in America.
You all can sit in disbelief but the same thing happend a year ago when they laid off 7000 back office positions. Everyone said it was rumors. Well look what happened and to sit around thinking it can’t happen to you and it won’t is ridiculous. My advice get out of Walmart and get out as fast as you can....
What about optical market managers
nothing better than someone that thinks they know so much. just creating drama. are you using a crystal ball or your so called knowledge
What about competition shopper associates
What about front end ZMS positions? Will they be eliminated as well? I can see where the training coordinators job should be eliminated.
What about cake decorators ???
You guys should look at the thread about age discrimination. Some guy said he's hiring a lawyer.
Is Sam's Club going to get rid of Fulltime COS or get rid of the position. If so when will the changes take place.
When is the personnel job going to be told
Those of us who are affected by these cuts need to think about the big paycheck they are going to receive if the accept severance package. Consider upping your 401k contribution for that last check as well as your tax exemptions. Wal-mart will match up to 6%. Up yours to 25 or 50%. Better in your account then taken out in taxes. When you withdraw from your 401k later, you are only paying tax on the amount you are withdrawing if you are over 59 1/2, If you are under 59 1/2 you will have a 10% early withdrawal penalty, However, that is much lower than paying 25 - 40%
in taxes due to the large payout. One of our audit associates took the package, Was here for 17 years. She got hit with lots of taxes due to the large payout. Just wanted to pass along some information to help others hold on to their hard earned money. Talk to your tax advisor.
I hope Sam's Club goes down for this! These are mostly LONG TERM associates! You should be ashamed!! Sam Walton is probably rolling over in grave!! I know I worked there for 30 years! Management made sure to get rid of me! It's called KARMA!!
Accounting jobs are officially eliminated yesterday. They have until December 1st to find another job.
Don't buy anything you can't afford on a single income.
Do Sam's club Cos' have anything to worry about? I'm in the process of buying a home! Both my husband and I work there! Feeling concerned!!!
Do Mss have anything to worry about?
What hours does the cash office lead work at Sams Club? We have a part time person that has decided she should open not the team lead of the cash office. The manager changes the hours in JDA scheduling to accommodate her friend, the part time person. This part timer believes that since she has retired from her full time state job and has open availability now she has the right to openand take the cash office leads opening hours.
what about Mss at the front-end
Is Sam's Club shutting down the photo department?
A assistant manager told a hourly for the audit team that the next wave is in June. It Is going to be receiving and marketing plus the marketing manager.
Today's post by @MUjv05P from a different page is shown below:
Walmart Canada
So there are no department managers anymore... and are making us all apply to different positions. Does that mean that if we dont get the job they will lay us off? I dont think the new hours are so bad... but are they gonna have the sames shifts every week? Or are we gonna be flipped all over the place? I dont know how people with young kids are gonna be able to deal with it.
This could easily be considered "the next wave"...
All audit teams (Sam's Club) have been eliminated in PA. At least in my market. I was on audit, that's how I know.
