Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

ConocoPhillips announces layoffs in Bartlesville following Canadian asset disposition with more to follow.

So how is the housing market in Bartlesville? We have heard several say they have sold their homes and just wondering if values are still up and homes are stil selling? I remember back in the eighties after a bad layoff in Bartlesville there were many houses with windows boarded up. Nothing was selling for several years.

Dang 20% below what you owe on your house! I am so sorry to hear that. We've been renting for a year because we figured this would happen. Renting is no picnic either because we had to rent a place to live then we had to rent space to store our toys (RV & boat). That money is just gone each month.

My b'ville friend sold his house 2 years ago and rents. He said he got burned the last round and was not going to get stuck with an overpriced house. He still has a job for now but he's looking pretty smart now. My real estate agent gave me a ballpark listing price that is 20% below what I currently owe. I wish I'd sold mine.

Oh joy. Layoff number 4? 5? 6? I can't keep count anymore. What a wonderful place to work.
