Anyone at corporate or the Kmart side know if there are still any Kmart express gas stations attached to Kmart stores still (or free standing) I know years ago there was a plan to roll them out on a larger scale, but I'm sure just like the super Kmart stores, they pulled back and dwindled them down.

The Ionia Kmart Express has closed due to the sale of the ionia Kmart building. The building was sold in 2015 but due to certain restrictions was unable to actually be used so the Kmart Express stayed in operation until fairly recent. I have no idea when it closed but it was after Halloween 2017 because I drove through there in November and it was still in operation but driving through last week (feb 2 2018) the Kmart logos are all painted over now and the station is completely shuttered. I'm TOLD that Kroger has purchased the ionia Kmart and the gas station but remember rumors are rumors. The final piece of Ionia Kmart comes down! Rip Ionia Kmart!
The strangest Kmart express location I have ever seen is the one in Ionia, MI. The main Kmart store closed in 2008 and remains empty, but the Kmart express gas station is still open to this day on the edge of the lot. They must do well there to operate a gas station for 9 years with no store.
Very interesting! I wonder if out of those 14 locations, if any are profitable... would purchasing gas at a Kmart express qualify for the 5% back in points with the 5-3-2-1 sears master card or would it be the 2% because if is an SHC location... hmmm.
There were 14 units operating in 2016.
