Thread regarding Cabela's Inc. layoffs

Just the facts, ma'am

The Cabela's family essentially sells the company by going public in 2004. The only way they can keep control is by holding a majority of the stock.

The family sells of shares to gain cash and loses its majority. They know this leaves the company vulnerable.

The Cabela's family because they own the lions share of stock decide to sell the company to bass pro. This wasn't Tommy Milner decision. He has little say in the matter because he owns so few shares.

When the sale is complete the Cabela's family gets wildly rich. Tommy gets a measly couple of million. And the rest of the employees get the shaft.

The Cabela's family knows that they screwed over all of the homeowners of Sidney. But they have not offered a dime to help out anyone. And you fools still think they are great.

Look at the facts. Tommy is not the bad guy.

Look it ... the board had two decisions. Sell to Bass Pro for $65.50 per share ... or reject the generous but deadly offer and fight Elliot. Because you can be dang sure if they rejected the offer Elliot would have went hostile. The weak whimpy board - led by Jim Cabela, Tommy Milner, Dennis Highby sold you out. My estimates ... Tommy boy walks away $15-$20mil, Dennis well over $30mil, Jim will push a cool billion. Greed!!! Murder of a small town. Sickening.

Private equals total control.

Public with the majority of Equals some control.

Public without a majority of shares equals no control.

I do understand finance. maybe you can tell me how they lost control in 2004 when they went pubic and in 2016 they had controlling interest in the company to sell to bass pro.

If you don't understand finance I'm not going to explain it. Go look at the SEC filings. You will see that they had a majority of the shares and they started selling huge blocks until they only had about 25 %. This let Elliot come in and put pressure on the company. If it is such a great company why are they screwing everyone one in Sidney. They are destroying the town so they can walk away billionaires. Scum.

D--k and Jim Cabela built one of the most successful business's from their basement . A tremendous SUCCESS story. NOW WE HAVE TO PUT WITH THIS BS. READ YOUR OWN COMMENT AND SEE HOW IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. YOU STATED IN 2004 THE CABELAS WENT PUBIC AN SOLD THEIR SHARES OF STOCK AND LOST CONTROL. NOW THIRTEEN YEARS LATTER YOU ARE SAYING THE CABELAS STILL MAKE THE DECISIONS BECAUSE THEY OWN THE LION SHARE OF THE STOCK. I GUESS ACCORDING TO THE SOURCE BETWEEN 2004 AND 2017 THE CABELAS REQUIRED CONTROLING INTEREST IN THE COMPANY. I ALSO WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION NO DEAL HAS BEEN APPROVED BY THE CABELAS STOCKHOLDER YET.

The family doesn't want to be involved any longer, none of the next generation of Cabela's have taken the throne or get involved they were all happy living of the hard work of their parents and grandparents, Tommy Milner was hired to eventually sell the company (as he has done before, there are people who are hired just for that reason because they have the experience doing that) the family wants out - just one perspective

How can he sell something he doesn't own. Who owns the most stock? The family calls the shots. The Cabelas family was greedy and screwed everyone just to get a little more scratch. Tommy is their boy.

I'm not a loyalist or anything, but because of them you had a job in the first place. I don't think you can really blame the founders of the company for wanting to do something else in their lives after they age. So they let someone else take the throne and it is that person you should be furious with.
