"Package" = 2 weeks of pay per year of service when you are made redundant.

Ummmm, not really. Packages are generally offered to well placed executives that have 'employment' contracts. The rank-and-file usually are not offered anything. Those close to retirement and considered redundant will be offered a deal to leave. The rest of us are stuck where we are at for the time being.
