To the idiot who is defending the deals, learn something:

Licensors target Mattel to overpay on guarantees and minimums because they know:

• Mattel is desperate

• SL doesn't have the financial competency to adequately come up with a realistic forecast

• SL does not fight for the balance in the agreement - she just takes the first counter-proposal and folds like a house of cards (I know, I was there)

• Licensors calculate the minimums and guarantees based on the size of Mattel's overall business - no matter if they get a few categories or all of them - this is what Bain didn't understand when they recommended cutting back lower margin skus/categories

• SL willingly goes along with licensor in order to foster a safe haven at other locales once she is bounced from Mattel

So, don't make excuses - deals are only as good as what you can fight for and negotiate - but when you don't show up to the negotiating table with your best players and leave her to her own devices, she will only protect herself, NEVER Mattel. Do the homework, truly investigate and don't be afraid of the truth - it's all there - you just need to want to find it.

It doesn't matter how large SL is, she is still a horrible human being who doesn't earn he over-inflated paycheck.

SL is untalented, but there's no collusion with her and Nick. These deals are often long term, cover multiple properties, and require minimum guarantees on licensed product sales and ad commitments. Nothing shady there. While Dora was hot for several years, Mattel's recent track record has been crap - but then again Spin works with the production company years out to ensure the show and toy align and work together. Something Mattel is very bad at (unless you count DV's excellent work on Green Lantern, Max Steel the movie, and DinoTrux)...

SL is an as much trouble as JS is a go getter VP who busts his butt and never takes credit for his underlings hard work. neither is true but both need to be shown the door. SL and all of her cronies need to be axed.

You're really going to give her a pass on all those train wrecks that happened under her watch? She certainly takes credit for when she lands the deal, but is nowhere to be found when the deals are disasters and not profitable. Accountability means taking the good AND the bad. She hasn't done it and therefore it's time that she goes, 18 years is too long at one company and she's already become a one-hit wonder.

Why can't it be true? The facts of her selection and performance of her selection speak for themselves. Remember, this was the woman who let Sesame Street go and then "rallied her people" to save the NYC office by brining in Disney Jr. and Nickelodeon. I'd say "revenue without profits" is wasted time, but there weren't even any revenues!

Really? Then how else do you explain such a dismal track record and still be employed? If this were a baseball team, and SL was the pitcher, she'd have been pulled in the 2nd inning and traded.
