Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

COP should divest EC4 & EC3, sell Conoco Center, remove all accounting & engineering duties from Lower 48 BUs and relocate all to Bartlesville!

We know we need to lower cost and improve the way the company is run and this course of action would do that. Phillips 66 could help us transition to a better company. Getting rid of all those wankers in Houston would be a big improvement. Centralizing engineering and accounting in Bartlesville would reduce cost and improve our company! Shut down Houston!

Brilliant idea mate. Shut it all down and move south to the land down under.

I weep at the thought that this poster may actually still work for us. Thought the last round would have done for this level of stupid. We are in serious trouble now.

Two years ago I would have laughed, however look at what BP L48 are doing - they are moving out if Houston. It's so bad that companies are moving out of high cost Houston to cheaper locations.

In case you missed the memo, ConocoPhillips and Phillips 66 are not the same company.

Problem is we don't own EC3 or EC4, so not sure how we'd divest without taking a loss (huge penalty). I'm not sure that's a great idea unless we can get good value by getting someone else to take on the lease, though that market seems bad right now. I do agree that things get done cheaper in Bartlesville, probably a SGL or two lower on average, plus less risk of people jumping ship (since it's in the middle of nowhere). Unfortunately, also less ability to attract good talent since it's not a great destination.
