Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Now that there's a new CEO about to take the reigns, she is likely to make changes to the Management Team. Who do you think will leave first?

good post. Let's hope SG in ES and MZ in EA go off to pursue personal interests elsewhere. Different product lines demand different standards to satisfy the consumer. People don't buy a Bentley for VW quality. (VW owns Bentley)

RD will leave first - didn't get the CEO job (thank god) and will want to leave saying he "fixed" Barbie, when in reality he didn't do sh--. Like the last time he had a senior position at Mattel. He's all glitz and glamour, no substance. I'd expect GW to lose his tech title as the CEO will bring in true tech people, but GW will stay. Hopefully some smart cost cutting - fire the sound design team in EA who don't do anything and farm their work to ES, who does the work of twice the team with less than half the staff. Barbie is still bloated, but as long as you have KC at the top, it's doomed - she wasn't smart when she was in Consumer Products; moving her to all of Barbie doesn't help, especially when LM is a tactical executor, not a visionary leader. TV spots with Dads and girls? Please. Mom buys the toys.

The stock drops 10% yesterday, and another 17% today?! This is what happens when the blanket is finally uncovered from the failed business model that Mattel is. Propping up one brand above all others is a failed model and without Monster High, Disney Princesses and Frozen to hide under, the empty calorie business plans from RD are useless - no credibility and no substance, just marketing hype.

And don't get me started on this "Fisher-Price is a Learning Company" crap - it's a BUSINESS first and if you don't understand how a business works, then you shouldn't put your hand up and say you want to be CEO, you putz. Good Riddance.

The conference call yesterday was an embarrassment. No one could explain clearly what happened to POS. The analysts were confused and gave up. That group has to go.

RD is in an untenable position. He was the heir apparent, but results have been so bad he was passed over. After being passed over he will be out.
