If you are called in from the field - don't bring your laptop. If it is required then schedule the "meeting" for later. Backup up important contact information frequently. It's not like they can lay you off more if t you do not come into that meeting they have scheduled. Go to the meeting when you are ready at your convenience, but be professional and d o n't stretch out time too long. Pay is normally withheld until laptop is turned in.
Had 60 days notice. 60 days of agony! You will get a termination letter.
Check your employment agreement and the IM manual.
slb was one of my best company i dreaming to to work for. Now everytime i go pee in the toilet it is the same feeling after they layoff package. one flush all gone
A bit of advice. Learn a trade, get good at it, and open your own business! You have more control over your own destiny this way and don't have to depend on ignorant numb nuts that don't know their a-- from a hole in the ground!
No notice, you about your days work, manager calls and you get laid off in person. If you work in the field, they call you to into the office, lay you off and take your laptop
How much notice will SLB give us?
I think Alaska is safe...Conoco has tons of activity for them
What about prudhoe bay Alaska, are we safe ?
Take a look at EIA and BP's reports. Recovery is not going to happen soon, which means more layoffs.
SLB is generally the first to cut pay and start laying off people in slowdowns. SLB is generally the slowest or last to raise pay and hire people during the upswings. Look at websites like rigzone job posting and you can determine what phase we are in. When I currently look for field positions it is the highest available number posted in at least 2 years. Management is likely a different story because SLB seems to have way too many managers in "similar" positions that don't really manage anything in particular. There is still appears to be significant room for consolidation in the upper ranks.
If you are happy where you are at and find the work fulfilling then don't worry if there are more layoffs. There isn't much you can do about it. There are too many unknowns. Maybe they are done laying off at the present moment, but if price of oil drop to 20 then bet your bottom dollar that layoffs will start up in full gear again. Just do your job to the best of your ability. If you are not happy with the situation you find yourself in, then look for "other opportunities" that you may find more rewarding. Money and the oilfield is not the end-all-be-all ultimate satisfaction.
G13 and above are getting consolidated now. Land workers mainly around Midland are ok. Offshore is about to have another round of 5-10% due to Q2 8-9 rigs coming offline.
there were ~200 released last week, plus a bunch of senior folks who have had enough and resigning/retiring. If you want details, go up to the 17th floor on San Felipe and ask.
a friend in Houston got the pink slip last week.
I would rather believe the liar shepherd than SLB management.
That what my manager told me , and he the first one go. Then after that the whole department get merged and i am the last one. You just can trust any body at this time.
