Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

One of our suppliers offered my money if I can recommend their services.........what should I do?

With schlumberger cutting my salary by 30%, no bonus and I am up to me eyes in debt with a new house, my child is ill with big medical bills and an expensive car I bought just before the downturn I may have no option but to accept this offer. I know its not the right thing to do but also its not the right thing to cut my salary and maybe in this case two wrongs can make a right and save my family from destitution.

You must be a fruitcake to work in SLB and put up with their arrogant and ignorant ways. Being mentally challenged is a pre requisite for joining

I still think it's a plant but maybe I should also consider that I work with some people who are fruitcakes or basket cases which I didn't before as I don't mix in those circles.

Sounds like he/she is trying to get some feedback on whether others have done this type of thing and maybe feel better or less insecure.

This post is obviously a plant to see the response to a hypothetical situation. Why would anyone be so stupid to post a criminal intent.

Taking a huge bonus while laying off All your people is much worse than what you are doing

what is the right thing to do? Laying off almost half of the employees and receiving a huge options grant for it?

Send an email to ask HR and see what they advise you

Don't do it buddy unless you are a VP or President and can get away with doing that kind of stuff.

I know a VP who made a fortune doing this and retired to California with an even bigger house and better car than what you probably have. Learn from the big guys and you will be OK

I would shop the offer. Plenty of suppliers out there that are struggling with the downturn. You might be able to double it...

My advice is that you don't take this bribe and give it to me instead.
