Project Replacement List

I was just displaced and was working on the project replacement list. This list is what was decided on by Jeremy King & Marc Lore that needs to be canceled and or replaced. Now, this doesn't mean you'll be displaced, but it could mean you get moved. And this list is changing by the day and getting larger. Jeremy King is in town this week.

First, the biggest one on the list is EMI. This is huge and has been going on for well over 5 years. It's canceled, gone, demolished. There will be a replacement created by WM Tech in house, different leadership, and the business team who was developing this before is to be moved & displaced once the transfer of knowledge is complete. Sorry, it's the ugly truth.

The rest are much smaller than this, but like I said list is growing. There will be a new pricing system which is already in use by .com, this is actually pretty good. FSS(Medium risk), GRS(Medium risk), DSC(High Risk), ADS(Low Risk - was just re done), CLR(High Risk - Reboot & Merge), Dart(High), DSS(Medium), BEI(High), APR(High Risk - Merge), RPAS(Medium), Hyperion Systems(Medium), all legacy systems to be recreated and merged where possible. The goal they have is to have better, more powerful systems that can be bundled into one rather than separate. I see a lot of speculation saying all the jobs are going to India. That's actually not true. They are interested in doing all of the projects mentioned above in house. You should be seeing less and less contractors over time. They are going back to the roots of what made Walmart great to work for, but at the same time Marc Lore wants to grow the technology side into a leader not someone who follows 10+ years behind. They are already walking the halls and changing everything, quite a bit for the good. Every company has layoffs every year this is nothing new.

I don't have bad things to rant about all day. I got displaced, and while it's not fun it's not the end of the world. I'll probably come back, if not within a few weeks at some point. But it's also not the only place to work for.
