Lets do simple math here. They said about 1% will be laid off. Over 285K people. That's less then 3K.. Ok there are how many stores?? Maybe what 2200.. If there are 13 Department Heads and they are keeping 5. That means according to what people think 8 per store fired right?? 2200 x 8=17,600. That would equal to over 6%. The 1% is an ASM or 2 per store. Department Heads will have new roles and time to find another job in the company.
They are all going it's not certain people. They can't fire all the DM's. It would cause so many issues. It's to inform everyone at the same time what they are doing..
For me - a group meeting at 11, no 1 on 1 meetings scheduled, to my knowledge.
