Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Question: What got us here won't get us there?

If we are able to identify the beginning and end of a change, we can manage the transition zone better with the aim to minimize its duration. This is not easy to do, but it is always worth thinking about when embarking on a change. Have you ever thought about this?

The corporate climbing story never ends and never cease to amaze people.

To 4jrr - looks like you're just blowing smoke and need to check the facts. We don't need more bs on here.

That's assuming Arbiter wrote these words. My understanding is the quote was written in 1957 and not around the birth of Christ.

Transformation is just another word for reorganization. Petronius Arbiter had this to say about reorganization almost 2,000 years ago, and it is still true:

“We trained hard—but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we were reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing, and what a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while actually producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.”

If I see one more of those emails come through.... bunch of A** kissers replying all.

Transformation hasn't done crap! change is good but when you suggest to them that hey it's not working lets resolve this and come up with another solution!=, They don't give you a chance in heLL. it's going to fail before it gets better.

In other words, generally, those with reasonable intelligence can work this out mentally. Those who are thick need to create an action plan identifying options. If you are preparing for an Olympic Games, however, then broader principles apply to go with scale.

Most of us can do this sub-consciously and others need some structure to lead them.
