Designers? What a joke. All the talent left the building years ago. The worst part is that management doesn't have a clue that our products su...ck. Mattel has utterly given up on passion, quality and innovation. It's nothing but a commodity business, their only concern is stock price and dividend payment.

unfortunately the lazy do nothing disciplines are at the top of the company at mattel. don't go pointing fingers at other departments that don't have a say. except for marketing and above most people bust their asses albeit without direction.
Everyone is just "going through the motions" as stated below because this whole party is coming to an end. Look at the declines in the past 3 years and the entire culture is rotten to the core. Hang on and then move on.

well, when you have a head of a group who promotes a marketing guy to be VP of design because he's too insecure to have a real designer in charge that might challenge his thoughts... there are some great designers left at Mattel, but in some groups, it's a wonder some stay...
What discipline at Mattel doesn't have some lazy employees? Single out whatever group you want, but from what I see, there are people "just going through the motions" all over the place. I blame it on bad management and a sign that most of the company is superfluous.
love that last so true post as I saw that happen there for years from the non drawing/talk only so called designers..............send copied, cut & paste crap visuals to HK and let those poor bastards do all the work as the non drawing so called designers take all the credit IF it turns out well. If not HK gets thrown under the bus...........
sending poorly drawn concept sketches to asia to have them do your work for you does not a designer make. that makes you a lazy millenial.
