Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

First year anniversary, here are my Lowes story:

Next month it's my 1st year anniversary. I was hired as a loader seasonal. At that time i was motivated to work for Lowes. I would get all carts into the store as quick as i could. Come into the store, either help costumers or as if seasonal needed help. The seasonal (the hardest working manager i ever seen). Noticed my work ethic and 2 weeks of being at Lowes, i stopped being a Loader to a seasonal CSA. Got my fork truck and reach truck license right away. I'm a natural leader, basically was the managers right hand till the end of the season. Great 3 months.

Then they started to ask me if i was staying. I told them i did. And i apply for PSA, because of the hours. 5-2 mon to fri. But all lumber employees quit. So they gave me the b---s--- story of how it's a better career choice and everything and i stupidly listen to them.

I would spend another 3 months as seasonal (no benefits). No DM, no other CSA. They had Pro Service to cover Lumber. They are lazy as F***. Pro CSA only likes solo projects, refuses to work in a team or anything Pro related. Then there are 2 Pro specialist. 1 overworks because the other does not. It's just a pay check for him, he will never get fired because his dad buys at least $7000 every 2 weeks.

9 months now... Still no Manager, no other FT CSA or PT. The zone 4 Service Manager that we were getting. Had to work in electrical most of his time. Because he was the DM there, And they don't have enough people. Last week he fell on ice and fracture his eye socket. No work on when he will be back.

Yet again the whole department falls under my shoulder. Hate this play. Just going to wait for my Anniversary to move out of here.

And we all pay the price for the bad decisions the executive leadership continues to make.

Hello, this is Tina Terry with Channel 9. I'm doing a story about the Lowes layoffs today. I'm looking for someone who can share their thoughts with me. We can hide your face and voice if you'd like. Please call me at 704-335-4763 if you're interested. Tell them why you're calling and to transfer you to my cell phone. Thanks!

Sadly it is all about the Wall Street Monopoly game. I live in Florida down the block from a Food Lion that was closed. They probably employed 100 people but they were not profitable enough in the "new business structure"so they were closed. In my day owners of small businesses would keep the doors

open as long as they could make the payroll. Emplyees and owners sat beside each other in Church and they were loyal to each other. I actually have a friend in NC right now who told me his business has been pretty much dead for 10 years but he keeps it going the best he can because he has 26 long time employees and he owes it to them.

To the idiot that says hes not a team player. This company uses people. They preach team but it's because the other member of the team can't or won't help make it work.. They are a socialism company. We are all the same.. We are all worth the same but yet in stores they classify everyone differently. I myself don't mind helping others out but when there are things in someones job description that they can't or won't do they put stress on the "team". It's a great concept but in an entitlement era this doesn't work because they are all out for themselves.

You sound illiterate and ignorant. Maybe you should go back to pushing carts . You don't sound like a team player.

No one wants to be part of a layoff. As an accountant, with a master's degree, I can say that I never wanted to be an accountant. I sacrificed to succeed. I knew I could always get a job. Change can be a good thing. REMEMBER, this is not your fault. You've done nothing wrong. It is almost impossible to not feel badly. I have been laid off so many times. Those who receive compensation will have time to find jobs. Do NOT walk out! It will hurt you more than anything in this situation. You need a solid resume. Take a deep breath. Take your severance package or whatever they offer. Hold your head high! I do not work for Lowe's. It is obvious the new jobs will be less pay. Each of you have a personal decision. It will benefit you to talk the talk and walk the walk. It is the corporate way. Please do not get upset and make a rash decision. Talk to someone, a friend, family member, someone who will listen. Ask those closest to you to be supportive. Everything is changing. Make the best decision regarding your health insurance. Explore new options to save money. I can legally give financial advice. You will have to make 401k decisions. Talk to a financial adviser regarding the stock market. Above all, consider the income tax effect of each decision you face! Be smart. This is your money and your future. LB
