Thread regarding University of Phoenix layoffs

Oh my

1 question at UoPX is, how big is the severance and where do I sign? #2 question is, how do I get out of the parking structure without a badge?

I was laid off last week and my severance was 8 weeks. I was with the university for over 10 years and my understanding is that anyone with the university 5 years or longer received 8 weeks. That was more than I would have anticipated. However, those with fewer years under their belts received 2-6 weeks.

New company ownership, 2 weeks severance maximum. Been through it before, seniority means nothing.

New company took care of the FTF in first 8 days of ownership. Now it is time to streamline enrollment. New titles, less pay. Severence maybe. Do not accept new pay then layed off. Well at least it will be over, not having to wait

I do not live paycheck to paycheck. I am retiring in 3 years anyway. I am waiting for Severence then gone. I can pick up another crap butt job like this for 13-14 bucks an hour which is where the new pay rate will be at. Something is going to happen. End of this pay period is coming this week

It is clear that many employees need drug testing at once

bjk, what you are forgetting is the simple rule that it's easier to get a job, from a job. Yes, you can get a job being unemployed, sure, people do it all the time- but being employed generally gets you more interviews and likely better company. Good luck with severance though..

bjk - So you are willing to gamble that significant severance will be offered in a month. What do you base that on? Solid insider info? History? Blind faith? One of the basic rules of gambling is "dont bet more than you can afford to lose". Hope this works out for you........

Why quit? Severence will be here in under a month. If it takes more than 2 months then move on. This is the time to wait and gain Severence. No time to quit. Those recommending others to quit are afraid of their own job and feel less competition will bring security. It will bring security but not a new title and less money.

What a loser. Sounds like a Hillary support that wants everything for free.

Forget about a lousy few weeks of severance- get your butt off the chair and find a better place of employment- unless you're not qualified for anything else?

I wouldn't bet the mortgage on the availability of severance. There is no legal requirement to pay severance, and the longer this goes on, the more likely it is that severance is diminished or eliminated.

Why quit? UoPX will pay me to leave. You know it is coming. New job title less pay. Embrace reality. Sign the Severence and hit the gate going 98.

Answers take whatever UOP offers and hit the parking structure gate arm at 30mph plus. A win win.
