Performance ratings

I have heard from at least 10 people with previous years with 1 & 2 ratings are given rating of 3 this year. They were downright abusive and some even said that they will not accept that rating. Has it gotten very hard to get 1 & 2 s any longer, I mean unless you are in bed with your boss?

In my experience, it's always been difficult to get a 1 or 2. I went many years before getting above a 3 rating. I know others who have never received below a 2, but they are all in different BUs so who knows how it varies across the business.

A 3 is actually recognition that you did your job well. Everyone thinks they worked hard and thinks they deserve a 1. Since only 10% get a 1, the competition to get that is quite intense.

What do you mean by "abusive"? The people getting the ratings were abusive or their leaders giving the ratings were?

Just give actual 3 level work from now on....no need wasting time trying to play the game.

It's simple math. 10% of the staff are supposed to get a 1 and 25% are supposed to get a 2. When you cut the work force by 50%, half of the folks who got a 1 or 2 will get a 3

I hear you man, slogged like a donkey all of 2016 to see a 3 even if my contributions saved millions. Not anymore

That's the only way to get a 2 or 1 is by sleeping with boss's or being a backstabbing pos!! I couldn't count on how many women are cheating on there husbands to move up and keep there job. Same as the pos guys. This place s---s!! And just FYI no one fights for anyone I'm this God forsaking place.

Just because you are a 1 or 2 any given year, does not mean that somehow defines you as a life-long high performer. Most people get a 3. Getting a 2 requires not only hard work, but good assignments, getting along with people, and a boss that is willing to fight for you. Getting a 1 takes all that, a clear and shareable value story about what you did for the company that year, your bosses peers believing that story and fighting for you, and probably your boss's boss fighting for you. A 3 still got a raise this year, so stop complaining. A layoff gets no raise. A whiner gets a 3.
