Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Bureaucratic nightmare

What is up with this place? I'm about a year in and no guidance as to what I should even be doing. I work on a project given to me by my boss later it's get eliminated and I'm told it's not even a priority. My boss is a 20 year vet and does nothing but bs with the higher ups and recite the same corporate slogans I hear everywhere. Is all of Pepsi like this? Is it worth it to move to a different location or should I just jump ship?

S--- it up and plan on making a career here and look forward to all those 1.5% raises. Someday you can join the ranks of those clueless self-important managers who pretend they are doing something sooooo important and noble, flooding the world with soda and potato chips...

All true. They used to value employees. Now they will stab you in the back at a moments notice. Watch out for those nearing the big 55. They will push you out the door in a heartbeat. Especially managers originally from consulting firms. They push you aside to make room for others from their original consulting company. And yes, worthless projects abound. Watch out PepsiCo, the competing companies are working on valid projects meant to give them a competitive edge over you. Indra's days are numbered and so is Frito Lay staying with PepsiCo. Much more value as a separate company.

Run, do not walk, to any place else, even if you have to take a cut in pay. While

I was there the place was filled with b---s--- projects that were never even meant

to see the light of day. The reason that this is happening is that managers know

that to keep their jobs, they have to have people to manage. Forget for the moment

that the management there have no technical skills of their own and if they had to

program for a living they wouldn't be worth the price of a decent burial on the open

market. But be that as it may, they have to make it look like they're doing something,

otherwise the next Cognizant action might involve them. And they know that if they

have to rely on their own talents in the real world, all their a---kissing isn't going to

get them anywhere. The next round of downsizing/outsourcing/offshoring/right-sizing

isn't that far away, so have an escape plan. Save up money; have a resume ready.
