Thread regarding Toys "R" Us layoffs

2017 toysrus corporate layoffs have begun today.

This is the worst company I have ever been involved with. Don't believe the B.S. that it is all about the people and they care about their employees. Almost every year there are layoffs. I am sitting at my desk today watching hard working people being layed off. Does not matter if you work hard or not you are just as vulnerable here.

So if you are thinking of a career switch this company rethink that. Horrible Horrible place to work.

Step up Brandon! Give back the money that was paid to you last year. Accept no salary this year. Obviously based on this weeks decision, you certainly didn't and have not earned it. Stop using your private jet and do like the rest of us, economy!

Anyone have new information on numbers or if any leadership team was included in the layoffs?

Surprised it was on a Friday. Psychologists say Friday layoffs lead to suicides on the weekends. Oh well. I'll bet TRU had a trauma unit onsite just in case. I feel bad for good employees being let go. It's a shame I.T. jobs have been outsourced to India for the last ten years. It's especially a shame for employees over the age of 50. The harsh reality of finding a job at this age in this economy is slim.

The number is more like 27%.

They laid off the entire SEO team with no replacements or plan moving forward. Digital is the only part of this terrible company that is actually growing, and SEO is the largest channel. In what reality does that make sense?

The fact that they chose to keep outsourced/contractors over TRU employees tells you all you need to know about where the allegiance of management is. To the dollar. Brandon did the same exact thing with Dominos. Looks like it's time to take TRU public, Wall Street wants lean/mean and the people who are still on board are going to be hitting an iceberg that would make the Titanic blush.

I was let go 4 years ago and they kept the horrible leadership back then and it seems they still keep the horrible leadership. Most of the leaders are bullies and don't know how to manage people or make good decisions. It was the best thing that happened to me when I was let go. I have a way better job now and making $31K more. Also, I now get bonuses over the $10K range. So don't be too sad that you were let go, but be happy that you are free from that prison. It was by far the worst place I ever worked at in my 27 year career.

25% of I.T. gone on 02/16/17. Mix of short and long timers. Really sad. Jobs lost not being outsourced, as that is being cut as well.

Good thing we bought all those new chairs to collect dust. Idiots. I know a group of 7th graders that could run this company more efficiently.

Where are they making cuts? Home office or the stores or both?

TRU people in a vast ocean, no boats and random sharks biting good, loyal, dedicated people. That's what it feels like!! More layoffs coming tomorrow. This is just horrible and being handled very poorly. Do you think the employees that get to keep their jobs for now are going to want to stay long term? This is a ripple effect for the next year!!!!

Should start from the top down there the ones that have not produced change.

Get rid of bad buyers as well

They laid me off 5 years ago when IT was reduced by 30%. I was last in first out, they kept people who had no idea what they were doing because they were long timers. Fortunately I found a great place and have been happy with my job and prospects ever since. I wish everyone good luck in their search. Know there is hope and good places to work are out there!

How did you get the 22 percent number? I heard more than 250 people..not sure if HQ and field or just HQ

They have laid off people every year for the past 4 years. Today was just awful. 22% laid off, didn't matter if you did a great job or not. The decisions on who to lay off don't seem to be based on logic. Many people are just crying. Morale is worse than usual, and it's usually pretty bad. This company is on it's way out

I was as well...Brandon on a 3 year deal not good-gotta make changes for the customer...no evolution of the company...Leadership has taken the customer for granted for a long time and continue to...

They go through layoffs every year or other year since 2004. They failed to stabilize the ship and its been slowly sinking ever since. Amazon And Walmart are just so much easier to buy from, and cheaper. Specialty big box retail like this is an endangered species without radical changes. I love the people in the company and my heart goes out to them as I was one of the 2014 changes
