Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Anyone planning to join QCOM , think ten times. AVOID QCOM AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE..

stocks going south.

bonus will keep reducing till it become zero in few years.

there will be no addition to skills, mostly cut paste kind of maintenance work left.

no vision from upper management for team and individual.

if youare smarter than your lead, be prepared to get sidelined very soon and be prepared to get negative feedback on anything useless point.QCOM leads know very well how to kiss passionate engineers.

@LOJQoa3 OP, why did you join QCOM at first place; and when did you leave? Where do you work now?

@LOJQoa3-1hux, yes you said right. qcom is now a engineering shop.

before it was top notch company, top notch engineering institution but now its a copy paste shop.

What u studied in college, what u learnt in othercompany ...if u want to erase them from your mind and willing to do mindless copy paste work like a donkey ...then qcom is good.

on top of that if you have arse licking abilities, you can lie and manipulate, you have no guilt consciousness for taking others credit, you can back bite ....qcom is best place to work for you.

BUT IF YOU REALLY WANT TO LEARN, WANT TO USE YOUR TECHNICAL SKILLS DONT EVER THINK OF JOINING QCOM. ITS SINKING SHIP WITH FULL OF FOXES IN IT.

Too bad you took the job with Nivida. The graphics drivers are horribly buggy and slow. You'd have had a lot of work for many years at Qualcomm. Plus you'd get to live in San Diego. Best place in the U.S.!

I second the OP's assessment. In the past 6-12 months, even R&D groups have shifted from R&D to just doing test, maintenance and evaluating existing approaches. There is no more opportunity to patent or file IDFs. Somebody quits every 2 months and they are not replaced. Makes me think the plan is just to stop investing in new technologies and let people leave on their own by strategically managing it into the ground, avoiding a layoff.

I was interviewed by some one in Santa Clara for some Graphics test team in San diego.

He had no idea about kind of work and growth prospects.

seeing his silly non technical questions, i decided to skip onsite interview.

thankfully i got job in Nvidia.
